Here We Go Again

Didn't know what I'd find
Was in love, never mind
I was dumb
And here we go again
It was hard to believe
I was content and naive
Now I'm numb
And here we go again
He pointed out all the hot guys he would see
And none of them ever seemed to look like me
He was tall, debonair
There were vibes in the air
What were those?
Here we go again
Liked his smile, liked his face
He had wine at his place
Liked his clothes
And here we go again
I should have been more suspicious of his touch
I tried to just act like nothing changed too much
Here we go again
Feeling low again
Here I go again
Feeling sad about him
He took me to a movie
We wandered through the park
That month was kind of groovy
And this month's kind of dark
It's a shame when it ends
And you start out as friends
You get lost
And here we go again
This makes sense, there were signs
When there's too many lines
They get crossed
And here we go again
We argued a bit too much to make me sad
He cared a bit too much to make me mad
Here we go again
Feeling low again
Here I go again
Feeling sad about him

Deep Brown Eyes

I’ve been round the block so many times
I know all the cracks in the sidewalk
It’s gotten so hard to tell what is true
And what is just Whartonite sweet talk
Life escalates fast
Nothing would last, I say to myself
Things get so obtuse
There’s no excuse to be on the shelf
He was on the porch, I knew his friends
They told me he was flaky
But Corn Flakes are my jam, so I said hello
He said his heart was aching
Said he was involved
Mystery solved, I couldn’t compete
When I held him close
I was engrossed, I couldn’t defeat
(His deep brown eyes) I was me the one
(His deep brown eyes) And it was all fun
One day he left me high and dry
I sent him a postcard
He told me he was fishing
I better check with the Coast Guard
He broke off our streak, I cut my hair
My friends are all tired of hearing
This. It’s getting old, I should lay low
I should be disappearing
Still, once in a while
I get his smile lodged in my mind
I see him out in the street
I tend to repeat myself in kind
‘Cause he’s got those
(Deep brown eyes) And I was the one
(His deep brown eyes) But now we are done
